BOSE KRISHNAMACHARI (1963)

Bose Krishnamachari was born in 1963 in Kerala. He studied Diploma in Art from the Kerala Kala Peetom in Kochi (1984-1985). Following that he studied BFA at the Sir J.J. School of Art in Mumbai (1986-1991) and then studied for Master in Visual Arts from Goldsmith College in London(1999-2000). Krishnamachari's oeuvre includes a manipulation of photographic elements as well as vibrant, colourful abstract spaces. While his canvases operate on a formal level, with their spectacular combination of colour, texture and contrasting designs, they also have a strong intellectual basis. Influenced by the conceptual slant of much modern British art, Krishnamachari makes us rethink the connection between signifier and signified. His abstract patterns embody a shifting network of signs, mischievously evading definition and counteracting the assumption of a singular truth. The artist lives and works in Mumbai.
